IMAGES OF AMERICA - LARCHMONT Author
Judith Doolin Spikes compiled Larchmont as a tribute to her
community. For this rich history, she combined more than two
hundred vintage photographs with informative narrative. In it,
she traces the evolution of Larchmont from Siwanoy fishing camp
to incorporation as a mile-square village in 1891 to a commuter
(first railroad, then automobile) suburb. She also includes
the surrounding six-square-mile suburban area that shares the
Larchmont postal address. Larchmont Village historian since
1980, she is the founding president of the Larchmont Historical
Society and is a former teacher and journalist. She earned her
doctorate from the University of Chicago.
