The Slavery in Mamaroneck Township website is a project of the Larchmont Historical Society. The goal of the project is to document what is know about slavery, slaves and slaveholders in Mamaroneck Township, since the early 1600s when it was initiated, to 1827 when it was finally abolished. The Society expects that as additional documents about slavery are digitized, that additional connections will be made.

The project owes a debt of gratitude to Larchmont Village Historian Judith Doolin Spikes, whose books, frequently referenced within the site, are essential to understanding who the slaveholders were and where they lived.
